Barclaycard customers are 100% financially protected against credit card (Chip & PIN and OneTouch payments) fraud. As long as you have not been negligent (for example, disclosing your PIN) you are not liable for any fraud which may take place on your account. Your Oyster balance is protected from when you report the card lost or stolen to us.
From time to time, we may call you to ensure that the spending we are seeing on your account is genuine. These calls have nothing to do with your credit worthiness - we are simply trying to ensure that the person using your card is you.
Chip & PIN is part of an initiative across Europe to cut the rising tide of payment card fraud, which costs the UK more than £1 million a day. You will need to enter your PIN to confirm a purchase when asked by a merchant. You should never write down or tell anyone your PIN.
If you find the PIN we've given you difficult to remember, you can change it to one of your choice at most Barclays cash machines in the UK.
What should I do if I’ve forgotten my PIN?
If you forget your PIN then please call Barclaycard Customer Services on 0870 154 0154* and we'll send you a written reminder.
What is my Card Security Code?
Your Card Security Code is the final 3 digits printed over the top of the signature strip and is extra proof that you are the cardholder. You may be asked to quote it for phone, fax, mail order and internet purchases. The Card Security Code should not be disclosed to anyone other than when (a) you are satisfied that the merchant/issuer is genuine and (b) when you are positive that you wish to proceed with a transaction.
It is not a PIN and cannot be used at ATM machines nor is it your unique Oyster number which is located on the reverse bottom left of your card.
What information will you share about my account with other organisations?
As with all Barclaycards we act responsibly with your personal information. We will pass your name, address, date of birth (and email address and telephone number, if provided) to TfL to register your Oyster details. In certain circumstances we may give information about you and how you manage your account to the following:

How do I make a OneTouch payment? How do I know when a payment has been made?
Is OneTouch different from Visa’s payWave and MasterCard’s PayPass
Is there a limit on the value or number of OneTouch transactions I can make in a day?
Do I need to tell the retailer that I will be paying for my purchases by OneTouch payment?
Do I need to keep my Barclaycard OnePulse separate from my other cards?
OneTouch payment is a new cashless way to pay for low value purchases of £10 and under more quickly and conveniently. You simply hold your Barclaycard OnePulse up to a secure reader instead of inserting it into a terminal. The transaction is completed in less than a second. Occasionally you will be asked for your PIN or signature to verify your identity.
Many retail outlets and purchases that currently require cash, such as coffee shops, convenience stores, vending machines, fast-food restaurants and car parks, will switch to OneTouch as a preferred method of payment in the near future.
OneTouch transactions are subject to the standard rate 14.9% APR typical variable if you do not pay off your statement in full.
How do I make a OneTouch payment? How do I know when a payment has been made?
Transactions made using OneTouch payment form part of your existing account in the same way as Chip & PIN transactions and cash withdrawals. OneTouch transactions will be detailed on your monthly statement (identifiable by an asterisk) and will allow you to better manage your low value transactions.
You can make a OneTouch purchase by simply holding your card next to the reader when prompted by the retailer. Your transaction is confirmed by a single bleep, the illumination of four indicator lights and/ or a display message confirming that your transaction has been successful
Is OneTouch different from Visa’s payWave and MasterCard’s PayPass
No. All three terms refer to contactless payment features and use the same EMV technology standards. Barclaycard refers to contactless payment as OneTouch payment.
Do I need to top-up my card to make a OneTouch payment?
You do not need to top-up your card to make OneTouch payments. OneTouch payments are charged to your credit card in the same way as Chip & PIN payments and will be displayed on your monthly statement.
You can request a receipt from the retailer for a OneTouch payment. However as a OneTouch payment is designed to let you make low value transactions quickly and conveniently, the retailer is unlikely to automatically issue a receipt.
Do I need to enter a PIN for OneTouch payments?
To verify your identity and prevent fraudulent use of your card, you occasionally will be required to enter your PIN whilst making a OneTouch payment.
Is there a limit on the value or number of OneTouch transactions I can make in a day?
There is no daily limit to the number of OneTouch transactions you can make as long as you don’t exceed your credit limit and each individual transaction is £10 or under.
What happens if I try to pay for goods over £10?
For transactions over £10, the merchant will request that you carry out the payment using Chip & PIN (or signature.)
Do I need to tell the retailer that I will be paying for my purchases by OneTouch payment?
When paying for items of £10 and under you will have the option to make a OneTouch payment (where available) or Chip & PIN. You will not need to inform the retailer prior to payment that you wish to make a OneTouch transaction.
How do I know a retailer will accept OneTouch payments?
Wherever you see the ‘wave’ symbol displayed by the retailer you can make a OneTouch payment

Your Barclaycard OnePulse can still be used like a regular credit card at millions of locations worldwide where Visa is accepted.
Do I need to keep my Barclaycard OnePulse separate from my other cards?
If two touch payment cards (e.g. Barclaycard OnePulse and an Oyster card) are kept in the same wallet / purse, they may interfere with each other preventing you from making a OneTouch payment. We therefore recommend that you only hold your Barclaycard OnePulse in your wallet.
If you already hold an Oyster card, you should store it separately from your main wallet.
Can I use OneTouch payment abroad?
You can use your Barclaycard OnePulse for OneTouch payments in the majority of countries worldwide where retailers have adopted touch payment (contactless) technology.
What data is stored on the card, should I be concerned about my privacy or identity?
What measures are in place to stop fraudulent use of my Barclaycard OnePulse for OneTouch payments?
Will the retailer be able to take payment twice from my account?
Can a purchase be made without my knowledge (e.g. will the card reader activate if I walk past it?)
Your OneTouch transactions are very secure. Payments are processed through the same reliable and secure Visa payment technology as with Chip & PIN transactions
OneTouch payments (14.9% APR typical variable) are more secure than cash and are protected by a 100% fraud protection guarantee.
If your Barclaycard OnePulse is lost, stolen or misused by someone without your permission, you will not be liable for any loss on the credit card. If it is misused with your permission you will probably be liable for all losses. You will not be liable to us for losses which take place after you have told us about the theft. Your Oyster balance will also be protected once you have reported the loss to us.
How am I protected against fraudulent use?
Cardholders will receive the same level of protection against fraudulent use of their Barclaycard OnePulse as they do with all Barclaycard credit cards.
You should protect and look after your Barclaycard OnePulse in the same way as you would look after any other credit card.
What data is stored on the card, should I be concerned about my privacy or identity?
Your card stores only the data required to carry out a transaction and is no different to a Chip & PIN card. Your card does not transmit your name during a OneTouch payment.
How close does the card need to be to the reader?
In order to make a OneTouch payment, your card needs to be placed within a few centimetres of the reader.
What measures are in place to stop fraudulent use of my Barclaycard OnePulse for OneTouch payments?
We take fraud very seriously at Barclaycard and have built a number of security controls and limits on the card to prevent misuse. In addition, you will occasionally be requested to complete a Chip & PIN transaction.
Will the retailer be able to take payment twice from my account?
No. The secure reader can carry out only a single transaction at a time
Can a purchase be made without my knowledge (e.g. will the card reader activate if I walk past it?)
No. Your card has to be within four centimetres of the point of sale and the retailer must have first entered the amount for you to approve.
What happens if I have a query on my statement?
If you have a query regarding your statement please call Barclaycard Customer Services on 0870 154 0154* in the normal way.
